Love a sommelier who has the boldness to recommend a red wine - @sabellifrisch’s Somers vineyard Mission - with a crab pasta. (Chips not with the pasta but my mate @fionasims Dover sole btw!) Nuff said.Having been out a lot lately I’ve been having a bit of a play in the kitchen this weekend but here’s the thing. I’ve been complaining that cookbooks only give recipes for four when most people I suspect cook for two. But is this a dish for 2 or 4? I’m inclined to think you need 2 chicken thighs per person but many would be satisfied with 1 and some might want 3. Appetites vary hugely plus it depends what else you’re serving. Anyway this - or a version of it will be in my recipes for 1 or 2 series on Substack. It’s surprisingly small, loud and very expensive but the food and the flavour combinations are brilliant. Love the fact that they have 5 kinds of rosti on the menu (though they are just bites) and two kinds of offal including ox tongue and sweetbreads. And that lobster tail is insanely good as it should be for £65. (Bear in mind the clientele though. It’s reputedly @victoriabeckhambeauty’s favourite restaurant - she even named a handbag after it.) Don’t be put off, it’s fun, buzzy and if you’re careful about what you order just about affordable.
